2078 Clean-up
First things first. Starting with a voltage sticker that is peeling
off. This will be replaced with a new vinyl decal. First, however, we must
remove the old sticker.
How it is done. Lighter fluid works well as a general purpose
label/adhesive remover.
After soaking with lighter fluid the sticker lifts off cleanly. Yet considerable adhesive residue,
hardened with age, adheres tightly to the painted
surface of the Td124 chassis.
While lighter fluid won't take the hardened adhesive residue off of the painted
surface, acetone does.
Next. That service sticker from Hollywood Beverly Radio.

With the label removed, considerable adhesive residue is still stuck to the
surface.
The label was removed intact.
This photo shows the surface after wiping the residue off with some automotive
"prep-solvent" and a soft cotton cloth. (old T-shirt material)
"Prep-Sol is a general purpose wax stripper/degreaser used by body
shops to clean a painted surface down to the bare unprotected paint.

The
disassembled chassis is wiped down thoroughly with Prep-solvent to clean 50
years of dirt, oil and grease away. In the photos it can be seen that 2078 cleans up nicely.
