Back to belt review page.

The subject belt for this page was equipped to a second hand TD160 mk2 I bought. Vendor unknown.

1)

above photo 1: three belts.  top is the original Thorens, old and stretched-- middle is Rolf-Kelch replacement --lower is the generic subject belt. Belt (length) is similar to the Rolf-Kelch belt.

2)

above photo 2: width of lower generic belt is 4.6mm. (.187 inches) Compare to the Rolf-Kelch replacement and Thorens belts which are both 4mm (.156 inches). Section thickness of the generic is also thicker at.8mm.  Compare at .7mm for the Thorens and R-K.

3)

above photo 3: Elasticity is much lower. In effect this belt is stronger and would make a more potent sling shot than the original Thorens or Rolf-Kelch replacement. Not so good for a TD160 since the belt pulls the sub-chassis in the direction of the motor pulley and up against the side in the arm-board portal.  No amount of suspension adjustment tried can correct this.

Now the verdict: I the jury find this belt.........unacceptable. I can't use it because it defeats the suspension by pulling the arm-board into contact with the top plate.  Too strong for this application.
