I designed and made the plinth from 18mm Birch plywood in five laminations. Each lamination has a different cutout to suit the entrails of the Garrard 301. The SME 309 arm is mounted directly to the plinth for rigidity. The arm is located in a position to minimize the size of the plinth thus allowing it to be symmetrical. The plinth is sanded, stained and varnished. An Ortofon MC10 Supreme cartridge completes the setup.
I have designed and supplied several bespoke plinths to Garrard fans around the world. I try to specialize in one-off designs for 9 inch, 12 inch or multiple arms.
