"Now that the analog virus seems to have me in its tight grip, I couldn't resist buying this Thorens TD124 Mk I with a SME 3009 Series 2 improved tonearm and a Shure V15VxMR cart in a beautiful plinth. It came in excellent condition. I've done some standard maintenance on it, such as cleaning and lubing the bearings of the stepped wheel, the idler wheel as well as the main platter bearings using a special "sinter oil" as well as freeing the pulley from any rubber residues left by the belt. It doesn't sound as refined as my tweaked TD320, but with the right kind of music, it really rocks and in terms of handling there's nothing that comes close to this deck with its 'de-clutchable' top platter.....Sheer joy!"
